The experts at Africa Adventure Consultants have been planning travel for families for 15+ year, not only for their clients but for their own families as well. East Africa has continually been on the rise in popularity but it has always been a region to make many memories for the whole family, from the great-grandparents to the youngest grandchild.
Multi-generational travel overall is becoming increasingly popular, and there’s no better way to build lasting memories as a family. There are few greater wonders on earth than visiting one of its wild places, and even better, seeing wildlife in its natural setting. An East African safari makes for an incredible multi-generational trip for a myriad of reasons, including…
1. THE SPECTACLE
Everything from the Great Migration of more than 1.5 million animals moving throughout the Serengeti ecosystem to trekking gorillas (with whom we share 96% of our DNA!), the wildlife in this region of the African continent is breathtaking!
2. EVERYONE HAS FUN
When is the last time your whole family did something together? When is the last time you all did something together that everyone enjoyed? A safari has something for everyone! There are a huge range of activities to enjoy – game drives, walks and incredible star gazing, as well as cultural activities and interactions. There’s even time to relax if you want! On a safari vacation, everyone has a good time – together!
3. FAMILY FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATIONS
We travel with our own families and know what works for kids and adults alike and with that experience we will help you choose the right accommodations for your multi-generational safari.
We can book an extra-large family room so that you’re close with your younger kids or grandchildren, be sure there is a pool for your teens that need to blow off steam, book a tent close to the main lodge so grandpa doesn’t have to walk too far – just let us know your needs, and we will customize your safari to make it a trip your family will never forget!
4. FROM GREAT GRANDMA TO TINY TIM
We plan safaris for a huge range of ages. Do your aging parents need a staircase to get into the vehicle? Done. Do you want a child-friendly dinner served at an earlier-than-normal time for your young kids that just can’t wait? Done!
We can even offer fun kids-only activities at some of our favorite camps like visiting a local Maasai village where they will learn how to make and shoot a traditional bow and arrow, make a fire, build a hut, learn traditional songs and dances, and herd cattle to name a few.
Let us know what questions you have about your family’s unique needs and we’ll craft a special safari just for you. Note: some activities have a minimum age for participation. Ask your safari specialist for details.
5. LET’S CELEBRATE!
Celebrating a milestone, whether it’s a golden anniversary, grandma’s 75th birthday or a family reunion, the memories of taking an African safari will last a lifetime for everyone. It’s an incredible way to make what is an already important event an indelible part of your family’s memories and history.
