Here’s a list of some of my top websites – definitely worth bookmarking if you enjoy African wildlife as much as I do!
1. Listen to Africa
Be part of an 18-month cycling journey across Africa, recording African sounds and voices! Although the website doesn’t focus entirely on African wildlife, it surely gives you a taste of what the continent is all about!
Follow @listentoafrica on Twitter.
2. Taga Safaris Africa – African Safari News
Get bush insights from various safari camps across a multitude of African nations. Great sightings accounts and wonderful illustrations!
Follow @TagaSafaris
3. Photo-Africa Blog
African Wildlife, Nature and Environmental Photography! Photography tips, stunning wildlife photos and so much more…
4. Safaritalk
Wildlife Environment Communities! Forums, travel talks, debates, Safari experts interviews, African wildlife videos…such a rich source of information!
Check them out on their Safaritalk website.
Follow @SAFARITALK
5. DiscoverAfrica
Discovering Africa, 1 Image at a Time! Perhaps the best African photography resource out there! Search tool that gives you the opportunity to find targeted photos on specific keywords! All images are from Flickr.
6. WildEarth
LIVE Coverage of the African Bush from the Djuma Reserve, in South Africa! Without a doubt my favourite African wildlife website out of them all! Web cams, chat, live safari game drives, bush walks, etc.
In fact, as I am writing to you now I am viewing waterbuck and impalas in real time. How cool is that?! There is so much to discover out there! The other day I also saw some buffalo and elephants, coming down to drink by the waterhole!
To be able to hear the sounds of the wild is even more incredible, especially when you live thousands of miles away from the African continent!
I actually got frightened once when I mistakenly forgot to switch off the web cam coverage. All of a sudden I almost fell off my chair…hippo calls from the waterhole
…it felt as if the animals were just outside in my backyard!

7. African Safari Journals – Latest African Wildlife Sightings!
Such a cool service that enables you to get the latest wildlife sightings from the Kruger National Park, Pilanesberg, Addo, Etosha and Hluhluwe-Imfolozi parks in Southern Africa, directly to your cellphone! And the best part is, it is absolutely FREE! You heard me right: free wildlife info! The only costs you will incur is from your own service provider to retrieve data to your cellphone. Way cheaper than SMS (less than 1 South African cent per message)!
The tool is especially useful if you are in one of the reserves mentioned above, and would like to know where to search for animals! The system provides an accurate map with different color markings according to the animal species encountered, and where they were found. For instance, red is for lion, green for white rhino, black for leopard, etc.
Try it out and let me know what you think of the system…
8. Wildwatch
Eyes on the Wild! Get the latest wildlife updates from safari guides and guests at more than 40 camps throughout Eastern and Southern Africa!
The great part on this site is that you get feedback from both the experts, and tourists. In other words, you get a perspective from both ends. Highly recommended when planning a trip to a specific African destination.
Sign up to receive their newsletter, or subscribe to their RSS feeds!
9. Wildcast
African Wildlife Adventures Live from the Bush! An acclaimed wildlife filmmaker invites you to join him in making his next African masterpiece.
Yet another aspect of African wildlife unveiled here. Fantastic video highlights from award-winning filmmaker Kim Wolhuter. Follow the spoors of Tjololo, an African leopard, and get transported into the heart of the Chiredzi area, a game reserve of Zimbabwe!
10. Africam
Always LIVE, Always Wild! Similar to WildEarth, yet it gives you more web cam options as far as live African safaris are concerned. Choose between Nkorho Pan, Tembe Elephant Park, Elephant Plains & Flamingo Island! Also has On Demand African Video Clips, which enables you to view wildlife video highlights!
The only concern that I have with Africam is that they put too many adverts on the site & in their videos!
