This image keeps on catching my eye. A while ago I did a black & white version of this image but I have always felt that it was a color image rather than monochrome.
What made this scene work is not only the animal’s pose but the natural frame created by the vegetation and the light playing on the background and through the trees.
In a reserve which is mostly made up of harsh thorn trees and sickle bush, an image like this almost comes across as mystical. A unique photographic moment in a harsh African landscape.
