A photographic goal to work towards… do you have one?

Search the web and you will find a lot of people doing 365 day photo projects, the goal apparently being to spark creativity and make you step out of your comfort zone.  Not a bad idea, and I admire people who can actually go the distance, but does the goal bot become completing the project rather than improving you photography?

Whether you are shooting wildlife or landscapes, basically anything where the goal is not predetermined by the client, you need a goal.  A vision,  Going out there just for the sake of going out there and rattling off frames just for the sake of rattling off frames might bring the occasional amazing image but are you then moving closer to a goal?

In Paul’s guest post yesterday he mentions that once his ‘work’ was done he started taking more artistic images for himself.  There is a goal.  Taking artistic images for himself.

It’s all fine and well to say that your goal is ‘to take better wildlife image’ but what?  And how?

Lion - Wildlife Photography

Busy day and weekend ahead with a workshop at the Inanda Country Club so gonna leave it at that for now but think about it…

A photographic goal.  Do you have one?

See ya next week for more.  Have a good one! ;)

Shoot What You See

You can only shoot what you see. All too often wildlife photographers, or people photographing wildlife, get too catch up in the never ending quest to create perfect images. Sounds strange? Think about it.  You have a great sighting out in the wild.  Take what you think is a great photograph.  Then people comment that [...]

Check Your Photo Backgrounds

Finding a wildlife subject is one thing.  The background you have behind it is a whole different story. All too often we get so stuck on finding a subject that we forget all about what’s behind it. I have had many times out in the field when we sat watching a sky, a reflection in [...]
