I took these images during my trip to Madikwe a few months ago and was really happy with the way that they came out. This herd was walking towards us with the baby in front (strange? yes, it was). He was flapping his trunk around and mock charging us every 3 seconds trying to show us who was boss (even though he was the second smallest elephant in the herd!) No matter what, he thought he was ruling this road! This is one of the reasons I love elephants so much; their characters, emotions and human-like tendencies make them such a joy to watch.
The first collection I ever did was Elephant Art which received some nice feedback. I’d like to welcome these pictures to the herd. (By the way, the strange pictures of him with his mouth to the ground actually show him eating sand and loving it.) What a great sighting!
