For what the Samburu region of Kenya lacks in size it certainly makes up in spectacular scenery. This is one of the most scenic areas of Kenya and it should be a definite consideration for a visit as a part of your Africa safari.
It is home to some of the most unique wild life in Africa and for that reason attracts a lot of interest from visitors from throughout the world as well as Africa. The area is renowned for its year round game viewing due to its proximity to the shaded banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Are you a crocodile fan perhaps? Then make sure you spend a night at Samburu Lodge, and get live action every evening when the beasts come out of the river to feed on dead chickens thrown by the lodge personnel. Quite a unique experience, especially when you consider the very slim 2 foot wall that separates us from them!
Can you sense the noise of crushed bones as the crocs devour their little snack?! It’s still giving me the chills as I think about it! 
Animals of Interest
Samburu is relatively undiscovered and as such can be a unique travel safari experience. As mentioned before some of the most unique animals can be found in this Kenyan region. Rarities such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, and Beisa Oryx all make their home in the area.
You can also find leopards in the rocky hillside terrain. One of the other attractions that cannot be forgotten is the sight of elephants bathing in the Ewaso Nyiro River. There are usually huge batches of elephants to be seen here!
All these animals are worth seeing and cannot be seen in other areas of Africa or Kenya. Thus, making this region part of your safari can really add excitement to your holiday.

Scenery
The landscape of Samburu is amazingly severe and scenic for such a small area due to the richness of different land characteristics. The diversity and beauty of the landscape is certainly one of the things that set apart the area from other parts of Kenya.
You can expect to see not only the river but deep gorges and waterfalls. There are lots of hills and plains and also some water springs to enjoy. There are also big and small swamps that attract a plethora of different wildlife.
