If you’re like me and you love “African wildlife action”, you’ve probably spent endless hours glued to your screen on some of the amazing footage out there!
Today I’d like to share a compilation of the best African wildlife videos I’ve ever come across (so far) on YouTube.
The top 10 selection is based on a couple of criteria: popularity (number of views), personal favorites, and most touching/entertaining!
NB: The list only includes amateur video footage. For National Geographic videos or any other professional recordings, check out the bonus list at the end of the post.
Feel like I missed out on some of the fun (which is most likely the case)?
Make sure you list your favs in the comments section. I’m counting on you…
Top 10 Best African Wildlife Videos
1. Battle at Kruger
Perhaps the most popular African wildlife video known on YouTube!
Amazing encounter between lions and buffalo and…I won’t say another word, just watch it!
2. Mountain Biker Hit by Buck
Crazy footage! Not for the faint of heart!
3. The Kamikaze Impala
A herd of impala leaps across the road…unaware that it’s leopard territory! Very bad move…and an unfortunate end for the poor antelope!
4. Baby Elephant Steals the Show
It’s play time at Hluhluwe Umfolozi, as a joyful herd of elephants is having a refreshing mud bath.
What’s so interesting about mud baths, you might say?! Well, you’re about to find out…
5. Touched by a Wild Mountain Gorilla
An unforgettable encounter between man and beast! Wish I was there!
6. Let Me Out!!!
Amboseli Trust comes to the rescue as baby elephant gets stuck in a well.
The ending literally brought me to tears!
7. Tug of War
When a coalition of male lions take down a young buffalo, the rest of the herd decides to strike back! 3 vs. 300 battle!
Who’s going to win? Bets are open…
8. What a Bully
Just another indication that hippos should be dealt with extreme precaution!
Would’ve been interesting to have a picture of the 4 x 4 after the collision…
Anyone knows if it’s still on duty???
9. Friendly Cheetah
Did the cheetah mistake the Jeep for a termite mound? I guess we’ll never know…
Love it when the tourist is taking pictures with his iPhone. Too bad he didn’t have one of those reflex cameras! He could’ve probably touched the cheetah’s nose with his lens!
10. Baby Zebra’s First Steps
You might say I’m a little biased on this one (since I took the footage myself), but I still think it’s a real beauty!
Experience baby zebra’s first steps into life! What more can I say: totally adorable!!!
If you enjoyed the above, you’ll most certainly want to watch some more (I know, it’s “really” addictive)…
Bonus Video 1: Black Rhino Sprint
Bonus Video 2: Naughty Lions
If You Want to Go the Extra Mile…
